For the first time in Ukraine, the system of criminal proceedings in Ukraine has been comprehensively considered. In particular, the definition of the concept of «criminal procedure system» is given, the genesis and system of domestic criminal procedural legislation are traced, criminal procedural activity and the system of science of criminal procedure are analyzed. The concept and criteria for the typology of сontemporary criminal procedural systems are analyzed. The peculiarities of the Anglo-American type of criminal procedural system, the continental, as well as other are determined. The peculiarities of the components of the criminal procedural system of Ukraine in accordance with the stages of its construction are studied. Ways to improve the use of the legal values of the European Court of Human Rights in the criminal procedure system of Ukraine and international standards of criminal justice as a component of the criminal procedure system of Ukraine are outlined. Scientifically grounded recommendations concerning improvement of norms of the criminal procedural legislation and practice of its application are made.
