Essay

The proposed dissertation is the first study in the Ukrainian musicology of the phenomenon of the Universal Creative Personality in Ukrainian musical culture. The author considered this phenomenon in the individual-creative, comparative-typological and functional-dynamic aspects. The focus and methodology of the research give an opportunity to understand the specifics of the universal creative individual. This allows scientists to understand the phenomenon of creative individuality. The proposed new ways make it possible to comprehend the format of the Ukrainian musical culture and the meanings of the world musical-historical process deeper and more accurately. In the dissertation, O. Komenda has built the structures of activity universalism about fifty most representative universal personalities of the European musical culture of the 19th and 20th centuries. Accordingly to this, she observed different degrees of representatives of different types of creative universal personality in different historical periods and national communities. The researcher noted the uniqueness of the structure of activity universalism of O. Messiaen. The functional correspondence with the task of constructing a Ukrainian musical culture of the type of the universal-public figure and the functional discordance with it of the type of the universal-musicologist is shown, and the role of a classical universalism in the Ukrainian musical culture of the Soviet period as a way to resist the destruction of the national tradition is defined. O. Komenda substantiated the function of the universal-composer type as the personification of the breakthrough moment of the goal formation of the Ukrainian musical culture. She determined the role of the universal personality of S. Ludkevych as a reflection of the common tendencies of the development of the Ukrainian musical culture. O. Komenda confirmed the high cultural potential of the universal personality in the processes of formation and development of the national musical culture. She comprehended the significance of the type of universal-public figure as a characteristic phenomenon of Ukrainian musical culture. In the dissertation musicologist defined the classical universalism of O. Kozarenko as a continuation of the line of M. Lysenko – S. Lyudkevych – M. Skoryk. For this purpose the author described the levels of activity synthesis in the structure of activity universalism of O. Kozarenko and modeled the nature of the system-integrative connections with the tendencies of his activity universalism in a dynamic projection.
