Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the characteristic, systematization and a complex analysis of different sources from the history of origin, formation and development of credit and banking of Dnieper Ukraine in the second half of the XIX – early XX centuries. and identifying their information potential. The complex of sources of the history of credit and banking institutions of Dnieper Ukraine of the studied period is characterized and formed and their classification is carried out. Basically is used criterion of functional purpose of the document: a) legislative and regulatory acts and documents of regulating the credit and banking system (legislative documents which regulated the credit and banking business in the Russian Empire; documents of law enforcement and forensic investigators governments; administrative and executive documents of provincial and territorial authorities in credit and banking affairs); clerical documentation of credit and banking institutions (internal documentation created in the course of daily management activities: magazine, memorial, cash book, general ledger, profit book, commission book and others; accounting documentation); c) statistical documentation (public financial reporting of banks and small credit institutions; statistical publications of the Central Statistical Committee and departmental institutions; provincial and territorial statistics; statistical publications of public financial organizations); d) Russian and local periodicals, which were published in the second half of the nineteenth – early twentieth century (socio-political and specialized professional periodicals and socio-literary magazines); e) sources of personal origin (memoirs, diaries, letters, obituaries).
