Thesis for Doctor of Science Degree in of a scientific degree of the doctor of technical sciences on a speciality 05.02.01 – materials science. – Institute for Single Crystals NAS of Ukraine. – Kharkiv, 2020. The work is devoted to the development of scientific bases for the creation of composite scintillator materials. The material consists of a transparent non-luminescent base and contains scintillation grains of inorganic crystals. It develops the criteria of thikness of scintillation layers. The dissertation analyses the working conditions of composite scintillators for two main schemes in high energy physics. A scintillator is in direct contact with the photodetector. The additional radiation-resistant fibre transmits the light to the photodetector. The thesis defines the conditions of obtaining high sensitive composite scintillators. It examines this problem of selective detection of alpha and beta particles, photons of low-energy X-ray and gamma radiation, registration of thermal neutrons. The results of the thesis made to create systems for recording weak fluxes of various types of ionizing radiation based on large-area composite materials.
