Object of research: the process of strengthening the competitive position of agricultural enterprises. Purpose: scientific substantiation of theoretical and methodological principles and development of practical recommendations for strengthening the competitive position of agricultural enterprises in terms of sustainable development of rural areas of Ukraine. Methods: system and structural analysis, balance cross-section regression, multifactor statistical (cluster) analysis, method of calculating structural changes, method of identifying comparative advantages, method of assessing the stability of regions, method of calculating the adjusted market power index, fuzzy set method. Novelty: for the first time a comprehensive model of the dependence of competitive positions of agricultural enterprises on the impact of sustainable development was developed, a model of the impact of agricultural enterprises activities on key components of sustainable development of regions was developed, methodological bases of research of possibilities for strengthening competitive positions of agricultural enterprises in terms of sustainable rural development were justified, an optimization model for assessment of the relationship between the development of rural areas and sustainable development of regions was developed; substantiation of strategic priorities of agriculture functioning, conceptual bases of strategic development of agrarian sector enterprises in the conditions of sustainable development of rural territories, methods of calculations of structural changes of added value and labor provision in the process of agricultural enterprises functioning, approaches to improving institutional quality of agrarian sector enterprises were improved.
