Starkov V. Information potential of the research sources of traditional playing culture of Ukrainians: formation history and publication (XIX – early XXI century)

In the dissertation the formation history of the research sources base of the traditional Ukrainian playing culture is comprehensively investigated. The work presents a view of this process as a consistent accumulation of source information about the collective traditional playing creativity of the Ukrainian people in that context. Regarding the general information potential, for a period of more than two hundred years domestic researchers in the field of traditional culture based on the results of a broad ethnographic Ukrainian movement and on the basis of the national ethnographic school built the foundation of the source base of traditional game culture of Ukrainian people. material containing more than three thousand descriptions and mentions of folk games and entertainment and game phenomena in the lives of Ukrainians. The corpus of folk games with considerable variability is more than two hundred traditional games. The available source building makes it possible to expand ethnographic and cultural studies of the traditional game culture of Ukrainians.
