Essay

In the dissertation, for the first time, a systematic typological study of the whole genre array of Ukrainian early traditional melodies and their areological projection is carried out (by mapping). The methods of mapping revealed the typological and areal commonality of the ritual melo-forms of Ukrainians with the songs of Belarusians, Poles, Lithuanians, partly – with Russians. An Atlas of the monoethnic and polyethnic macro-areas (400 objects on 132 maps) was created. The common space of distribution of related meloforms is defined as an "Slavic-Baltic early-traditional melo-massif" (SBEM).
