Essay

Dissertation presents author's solution of scientific problem concerning formation of professional identity of future specialists in physical therapy, occupational therapy in higher education institutions. The dissertation for the first time scientifically substantiates the theoretical and methodological principles of forming the professional identity of future specialists in physical therapy, occupational therapy in institutions of higher education. The system of formation of professional identity of future specialists in physical therapy, occupational therapy in institutions of higher education is developed and experimentally tested, the components of which are: author’s concept of formation of professional identity of future specialists in physical therapy, occupational therapy in institutions of higher education; model of the system, which contains target, theoretical-methodological, semantic, procedural and criterion-diagnostic blocks; pedagogical conditions (intensification of the content of educational components of the educational-professional program “Physical therapy” of the first (bachelor’s) level of higher education specialty 227 “Physical therapy, occupational therapy” branches of knowledge 22 “Health” in accordance with the features of rehabilitation in physical therapy; integration in the educational process of modular learning technologies, problem-oriented learning, team-oriented learning, situational learning, project-oriented learning and information and communication technologies, organization of non-formal education of future specialists in physical therapy, occupational therapy, development of creative potential and professional skills of future specialists in physical therapy, occupational therapy in the process of clinical practices. Developed educational and methodological support that can be used in the educational process of higher education institutions that provide training for future specialists in physical therapy, occupational therapy, during the preparation of educational and professional programs and curricula, writing textbooks for applicants for the first (bachelor’s) level higher education, as well as in the system of advanced training of physical therapists and occupational therapists. The author’s definition of the concepts “formation of professional identity of future specialists in physical therapy, occupational therapy in institutions of higher education” and “professional identity of future specialists in physical therapy, occupational therapy, which is formed in institutions of higher education” is offered. The structural components (motivational, cognitive, operational-technological, personal, behavioral) of the professional identity of future specialists in physical therapy, occupational therapy, which is formed in institutions of higher education, are specified; criteria (motivational-value, cognitive, activity, communicative and emotional-empathic), indicators and levels (basic, in-depth, higher) of the formation of professional identity of future specialists in physical therapy, occupational therapy; the content of professional training of future specialists in physical therapy, occupational therapy in Norway, Austria and Great Britain. The main organizational and methodological aspects of the formation of professional identity of future specialists in physical therapy, occupational therapy in foreign institutions of higher education are: self-study, continuous professional development from the first semesters, interprofessional interaction, stable ratio of theoretical and practical training to internship. The content, forms, methods and means of forming the professional identity of future specialists in physical therapy, occupational therapy in institutions of higher education have been improved; working programs of educational components “Introduction to the specialty”, “Theory and practice of physical therapy”, “Professional skills (by professional direction)” of the educational-professional program “Physical therapy” of the first (bachelor’s) level of higher education specialty 227 Areas of knowledge 22 “Health care”. Scientific provisions on pedagogical diagnosis of the levels of formation of professional identity of future specialists in physical therapy, occupational therapy with the use of information and communication technologies have been further developed.
