The thesis is devoted to the study of ritualized forms of communication on the basis of English - language communicative practices in Great Britain and the USA. The basic principles of formation and development of ritualized forms of communication are singled out and described in a consistent manner on a material of English-language communication. Within this research the universal and ethnospecific characteristics of the ritual are revealed and their components and mechanisms of functioning are characterized. The study defines the criteria for typology of basic functions and types of ritual and highlights the forms and types of ritualized interaction. The cultural-forming component of ritualized practices in linguoanthropological and linguoculturological aspects is described. The thesis examines the practical aspects of ritualization, such as agency and identification parameters of ritualized interaction and analyses the structure of ritualized forms of communication from the point of view of speech acts. The modal bases of construction of ritualized forms of interaction as well as discursive aspects of ritualization and behavioral dimension of the ritual and its semiotic component are singled out and described. In addition, the main pragma-communicative characteristics of ritualized forms of English-language communication in Great Britain and the USA are compared within the research.
