Theoretical generalization and a new scientific task solution, which is to define the nature and features of seafarers’ labor in accordance with Ukrainian and international legislation have been shown in the thesis, as well as directions for improvement of the relevant regulation have been developed. The concept of seafarer has been revealed and the main elements of its status have been described. Professional and qualification qualities of seafarers and legal requirements to them have been determined. Requirements to seafarers’ physical training and health conditions have been identified. Legal factors governing seafarers’ employment have been explained.
