The qualifying scientific paper is devoted to solving topical theoretical and scientific-practical issues of botanical, biological, morphological and consumer patterns of the of yield and quality of marketable products and seeds formation of lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) by modeling a comprehensive assessment of national varietal resources. Allotment, formation, maintenance and use of a genetic plant resources collection (130 variety samples) and cultivars with reference characters of all varieties of lettuce, namely: (var. secalina), (var. сapitatа), (var. longifolia) and (var. angustana Jorish), which were an integral part of the identification of phenotypes (Lactuca sativa L.) in determining the criteria for distinctness, uniformity and stability, a comprehensive assessment of variety samples for breeding practice of creating new cultivars with the subsequent introduction of stem lettuce cultivar into the culture and the improvement of technological measures for the production of marketable products and seeds.
The ways of breeding and technological-ecological increase in the diversity and potential of lettuce cultivars (Lactuca sativa L.) were scientifically substantiated, its structured international botanical classification was improved in the Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine, an economic and consumer classification of lettuce, considering the typical characteristics of varieties was proposed, international technical specifications of marketable products and seeds were applied, a comprehensive assessment was carried out for the morphobiological and economically valuable parameters of cultivars in the appropriate growing gradients, considering the gravitational coefficient of environmental conditions and its influence on the formation of plant food organs.
In the thesis, the methodological support for the identification of morphological signs of vegetative and generative organs of lettuce plant phenotypes and economically valuable characteristics of cultivars, as criteria for their spread on the territory of Ukraine, was analyzed and brought to international requirements. Developed for lettuce varieties (var. longifolia) and (var. angustana Jorish), improved – (var. secalina), (var. capitata) and proposed model of the cultivar with indicators of their suitability for distribution in Ukraine has practical application in the state scientific-technical examination of plant varieties. With the participation of the applicant, a source research base with elements of extrapolation of morphological code formulas of plant varieties, officially published for the purpose of examination to determine the criteria for the distinction and varietal certification of lettuce seeds, was formed.
