The dissertation is devoted to the theoretical and legal characteristics of the state as a subject of social security law, research of problems and establishment of directions of optimization of legal regulation of the state activity as a subject of social security law. The paper provides a theoretical and legal description of the state as a subject of social security law. The tasks, functions, principles and guarantees of the state as a subject of social security law are studied. The mechanism of legal regulation of the state activity as a subject of social security law is analyzed. The problems of legal regulation of the state activity as a subject of social security law have been identified. The search for ways to optimize the legal regulation of the state as a subject of social security law. The concept and features of the state as a subject of social security law are studied, the essence of the state as a subject of social security law and its place among other subjects of social security law is established, the genesis of legal regulation of state activity as a subject of social security law is determined. The purpose, tasks and functions of the state as a subject of social security law are analyzed, the principles of the state as a subject of social security law are classified, the system of state guarantees as a subject of social security law is characterized. The forms of interaction of the state with other subjects of social security law are considered, the mechanism of legal regulation of the state activity as a subject of social security law is investigated and the methods and ways of legal regulation of the state activity as a subject of social security law are outlined. The essence of the problems of the conceptual and categorical apparatus of the state, problems of legal regulation of the state as a subject of social security law in the context of Ukraine’s European integration and problems of bringing the state as a subject of social security law are revealed. Trends in the further development of legal regulation of the state as a subject of social security law have been identified and the state as a subject of social security law in the EU countries has been studied.
