Essay

As a result of the dissertation, the key morphological, growth and biochemical parameters of cell populations of MCF-7 multicellular tumor spheroids enriched in CSC were investigated. The presence of CSC in the model is proved, the receptor and energy status of tumor cells and their sensitivity to antitumor therapy and factors of tumor microenvironment are evaluated. The use of a culture of eMCTS allows increasing the predictability of the efficacy and toxicity of drugs against populations of tumor cells in combination with CSCs before the drugs are transferred to clinical trials. In addition, the eMCTS culture makes it possible to assess the safety and impact of drugs in conditions closer to the tumor than in the monolayer (2D) model cultures and eliminates differences in species that often interfere with the interpretation of preclinical results, allowing drug testing directly in human systems origin.
