Ursolov O. I. Determination of loads acting on the shafting of the ship during its movement on intensive irregular waves. Thesis for the degree of philosophy doctor in speciality 135 – shipbuilding. – Admiral Makarov National University of Shipbuilding, Nikolaev, 2020. The research aim is developing a method for determining the loads acting in a ship-shafting system during the ship moving on intensive irregular waves. Papers concerning the causes and statistics of the marine propulsion shafting accidents, calculation methods of their bending and studies of the various factors influence on the shafting operation are analyzed. A method for calculating the spatial bending of a marine propulsion shafting which lies on bearings represented by a one-sided inhomogeneous nonlinear displaceable Winkler elastic foundation has been developed. A method calculating the spatial bending of a marine propulsion shafting taking into account elasto-hydrodynamic lubrication in all bearings has been developed. A complex mathematical model of the vessel-shafting system dynamics during ship movement on intensive irregular waves has been developed. The influence of waves on the shafting bending parameters has been studied. Based on the obtained model application, a method for determining loads acting on the shafting has been developed, which are to be taken into account at the stages of shafting design and alignment calculation. Key words: shaft bending, loads on the shafting, ship motions, irregular waves, finite element method, optimization, ship propulsive complex, elastohydrodynamic lubrication of the bearings, stern tube bearing, mathematical modeling
