Essay

Research on the topic of the dissertation was carried out during 2016 – 2020 in accordance with the plans of research work of the Department of Modern and Contemporary History of Foreign Countries, Historical Faculty, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. During the work on the dissertation the historiography and the source base of the research were analyzed. It is established that there is no historiography directly related to migration from the Muslim world to Ukraine, therefore, the dissertation covered scientific developments on related topics. Therefore, the various academic papers on the permanent residence of Muslims in Ukraine since their appearance and till Ukraine gained independence in 1991 were analyzed. During the period of independence of scholars, the special organization of the creation of Muslim organizations and their relations with each other is mainly considered. Analyzing religious and religious studies literature, attention is paid to the peculiarities of the spiritual practices of Muslims in Ukraine, and how it affects their adaptation in Ukrainian society. At the same time, researching the legal literature, changes in migration legislation during the period of Ukraine's independence were considered. Particular attention is paid to the specialized press, namely, the newspaper "Border Guard of Ukraine", its analysis showed that from 1991 to 2019 there were significant changes in attitudes towards migrants by the official services of Ukraine, from clearly negative to the understanding of objectivity migration processes and the potential opportunity for Ukraine to benefit, provided the relevant migration policy.
