Podorozhnyi V. Socio-psychological features of personal alienation of the elderly

In the dissertation the theoretical substantiation and empirical research of social and psychological features of personal alienation of elderly people is carried out. On the basis of the analysis of scientific literature, taking into account psychological approaches, the theoretical and methodological bases of research of social and psychological features of personal alienation of elderly people are defined. The main approaches to the study of the concept of alienation are analyzed: philosophical, sociological, political, theological, psychological, etc. It is emphasized that this research is based on a psychological approach, according to which personal alienation of the elderly is understood as a complex process of gradual destruction (reduction) of socio-psychological contacts between the individual and the surrounding society, accompanied by increased anxiety and loneliness, social distance, low self-esteem and propensity for self-blame, problems in interpersonal communication, intrapersonal conflict over awareness of their isolation, distrust, expectations of negative attitudes from others and the need for support, protection, social support.
