Pidopryhora I. Information and propaganda support in the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 1992–2014

The dissertation is devoted to solving the scientific task of covering the historical process of formation and development of information and propaganda support in the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 1992-2014. The urgency of the research topic is due to the change in the nature of the armed struggle towards the intensification of the use of means of information confrontation and the growing role of information influence on the personnel of their troops (forces); the ongoing armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine with the use of information and psychological operations; a certain similarity of modern conditions of functioning of information and propaganda support in the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine after their redeployment from the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and conditions of its development in 1992-2014; contradictions between the hybrid nature of modern armed struggle and the inconsistency of information and propaganda support in the Navy with the new conditions; between the declared tasks of information and propaganda support in the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the formation of a stable moral and psychological state in the personnel, its protection from the negative information and psychological influence of the enemy, and the actual unwillingness to resist the aggressor, betrayal and transition to his side servicemen of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in March 2014; the need to increase the effectiveness of information and propaganda support in the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the ongoing armed aggression of the Russian Federation and the need to create a new system of communications in the troops (forces); lack of critical analysis of achievements and failures in the organization of information and propaganda support in the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 1992-2014, insufficient scientific elaboration of the topic and lack of comprehensive historical study of the development of information and propaganda support in the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which would summarize the experience of its organization in 1992-2014. Analysis of historiography showed that the chosen topic was only partially reflected in the historical works of domestic scholars. The scientific novelty of the obtained results is that in the dissertation for the first time: the experience of information and propaganda support in the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 1992-2014 is generalized; the author's periodization of the formation and development of information and propaganda support in the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is proposed and substantiated; revealed trends in the development of information and advocacy support in the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine; the orientation of information and propaganda support measures in the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 1992–2014 was established; the typology of the organization of information influence on the personnel of the forces (troops) is offered; clarified and supplemented: information on the conditions of formation and development of information and propaganda support in the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 1992-2014 and the factors that influenced it; provisions of the existing theory of information and propaganda support of troops (forces); statistics on the selected topic; historiography, source base and conceptual apparatus on the research topic were further developed.
