Goal of the work -The aim of the work is to develop and study (in comparison with the working wavelength) of planar dielectric resonators in the operating modes of the whispering gallery and their use in small active devices of the millimeter wavelength range. Object of research - Planar (much thinner than the working wavelength) dielectric resonators in the mode of excitation of the whispering gallery modes. Theoretical and practical results. The electrodynamic characteristics of planar resonators are improved. In a planar dielectric resonator with the introduction of two symmetrical gaps, the intrinsic quality factor can be increased more than 4.5 times and reaches 6000. Due to the use of planar DR in the frequency stabilization circuit of a solid-state generator of waveguide-coaxial design. Short-term instability of the generator is not worse than 10-5. When using the scheme of individual charging of Gunn diodes, the power summation factor of individual diodes is equal to 0.91. Novelty of scientific results. First, the possibility of excitation of whispering gallery modes in planar dielectric disk resonators was shown experimentally and by the method of computer modeling. On the basis of such resonators the operating experimental sample of the power adder and the scheme of stabilization of frequency of the generator of electromagnetic waves on the basis of the Gunn diode is constructed. Research methods. The experimental characteristics were measured using a Pna-L circuit analyzer N5230a 10MHz ÷ 40GHz Agilent Technologies and a panoramic SWR R2-65 meter. Computer simulation was performed using the standard CST Microwave Studio 2013 software package provided by Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). Degree of implementation. The results can be recommended for research of various planar dielectric structures. Scope of use. The current experimental sample of a power adder based on a planar dielectric resonator and a frequency stabilization circuit based on a Gunn diode developed in the dissertation can be used in various devices as a source of electromagnetic radiation.
