Essay

The dissertation substantiates a set of measures for the treatment and prevention of somatic diseases, namely bronchial asthma (BA) in patients with overweight or obesity, which includes, in addition to standard recommendations, the appointment of additional cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). In order to perform the tasks of the prospective cohort study, the work consisted of two stages: the 1st stage – examination of 209 patients with BA, formation of the main cohort group according to the criteria of ―Inclusion / Exclusion‖: ―Patients with uncontrolled BA (UncBA)‖, which included 145 patients and the ―Inclusion / Exclusion‖ comparison group of ―Patients with controlled BA (CoBA)‖, which included 64 patients. The control group consisted of 20 somatically healthy individuals; the goal was to determine the reference values of some indicators. At the second stage of the study, patients from the main cohort group of the 1st stage were divided into two groups according to the method of treatment, namely, 39 patients with UncBA received CBT against the background of basic treatment and constituted the main group, and 39 patients included in the comparison groups received basic treatment. For the first time, cognitive-behavioral therapy was introduced into the practical work of primary care physicians for patients with uncontrolled asthma, comorbid overweight or obesity. The training program consists of theoretical and practical sessions aimed at reducing anxiety and depression syndrome in order to optimize the asthma control of this patient cohort.
