The dissertation is devoted to the definition of the content and features of the administrative law regime of subsurface use in Ukraine, the existing problems of its implementation and the formulation of directions for their elimination. The scientific work improves the understanding of the concepts of "subsurface resources" and "subsurface use". The historical and legal aspects of the establishment of the administrative law regime of subsurface use on the territory of modern Ukraine have been further developed, in particular, as well as the following stages have been identified: 1) the ancient period (III millennium BC - IX century); 2) the period of Kievan Rus and Kingdom of Galicia–Volhynia (end of IX century - XIII century); 3) the period of the Polish-Lithuanian state (end of the XVIII century - XVI century); 4) the period of the Austrian state (30's of the XVI century – beginning of XX century); 5) the period of the Russian Empire (beginning of the XVIII century - XX century); 6) the revolutionary period (1917-1921); 7) the Soviet period (from 1921 to August 24, 1991); 8) subsurface use in Ukraine since independence (from August 24, 1991 to the nowadays);
