Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the peculiarities of the use of video projection mapping technology in the context of the development of multimedia art in Ukraine and the analysis of promising areas of integration of innovative information technologies in accordance with the specifics of domestic socio - artistic space of the XXI century. The video projection technology has been researched and analyzed in all aspects, starting from the target issues and in accordance with the modular structure, which contributed to the understanding of its functioning and use. It is proposed to use the term «video projection mapping» (according to V. Sanson), because, on the one hand, it is a combination of two terms that are currently most commonly used, and on the other - fully discloses this technology, explaining its features. Video projection mapping is the projection of video materials, which, unlike conventional video projections, adapts to the shapes and volumes of the projection surface, which can be any object or subject in terms of shapes and volumes. A methodology has been developed to study video projection mapping as a technology of multimedia art in Ukraine. It is based on the application of an interdisciplinary approach and involves the study of this issue in the unity of artistic, aesthetic, methodological and technological problems. The technology of multimedia art as scenography, in the context of action on the stage with the help of interactive technologies, as well as architectural mapping as a theatrical language that gives life to new forms of space drama are considered. The peculiarities of creating a space of theatrical productions of subject-oriented theater in the context of the specifics of architectural video mapping are analyzed. According to the results of the research, it is proved that the innovative technology of video projection mapping is currently widely used in the world socio-cultural and socio-artistic space. It was found that the most popular areas of application of the latest technology are: mass multimedia shows and music shows; architectural mapping; landscape and interior design; theatrical productions; stage choreography; outdoor advertising. Video projection mapping has been found to be more than just an innovative technology gadget, as in the process of hybridizing with other media and performing arts it becomes a metaphorical language that transcends its own technological level to create meaning and convey ideas. The analysis of theatrical video projection mapping is carried out. As a result of researching the history of scenography, extrapolating and analyzing some of the most commonly used solutions, it was found that video projection mapping acts as a new machine that creates new expanded spaces and at the same time reproduces the linguistic functions of scenographic machines of the past. , all the functions and metaphorical meanings that in the past depended on various devices and practices. Based on art analysis of stage productions of drama, choreographic theaters, multimedia performances, as well as spatial theater productions, it was found that some Ukrainian directors use video projection mapping in their own stage works, preserving its ontology but changing its function and transforming from ordinary technical language. This shows the trend of using video projection mapping as part of the traditional concept of scenography and interactive element in the perspective of interactive design. The study of architectural mapping revealed two tendencies to strengthen the theatricality of urban space: in the context of innovative forms of performing arts and in the context of creating a new form of urban theater. It was found that the modern domestic socio-cultural space is characterized by two types of space drama: visual-narrative drama based on place, its history, architecture, that reorganizes everything in the form of a narrative through the images of the visual story; purely visual drama, in which it is important not so much the history of the place as its perception by the viewer - in this case, visual installations usually show abstract elements projected on architecture, neutralize it, transform and make it mobile. The main trends in the development of video projection mapping in the near future are described. It is shown that the most promising scenarios of its development directly depend on innovative technological developments. As modern viewers are accustomed to seeing images and special effects, the future development of video projection mapping depends on the narrative - only if technology is used to implement it, they will acquire dramatic and linguistic charge, which will transform video projection mapping from a tool (technique) to multimedia practice. Key words: video projection mapping, multimedia art, projection design, stage art, innovative technologies, audiovisual art, artistic image, metaphorization.
