He X. Environmental Design of Modern Hotels in Adaptive Reuse Structures (Using the Example of Industrial Facilities).

The scientific novelty of the work is that in the first it was justified the expansion of the research apparatus on design theory by applying the construct “identity of place” in relation to the design characteristics of the environment in objects of adaptive use; the iconic attributes of the architectural and constructive solution of the industrial building and its equipment were defined, which are used as a design toolkit in the environment of a modern boutique hotel in order to broadcast the past function of the object; systematized design techniques that act as a means of representing the past in the interiors of boutique hotels organized in adaptive reuse structures; compositional means that allow the integration of artifacts of the industrial past into the environment of a modern hotel were established. Justification for the importance of material characteristics of industrial buildings and their interiors for adaptive use has been further developed. The concept of the design of boutique hotels in which the exclusivity of the environment is built due to the ability to represent the iconic features of the old building has been improved. In the process of conducting the work, both general scientific methods and special methods (structural-functional, morphological, compositional, phenomenological) were used. The work consists of an introduction, three sections, conclusions, reference list and appendices.
