Essay

Semantic concepts of translation interpretation are established, which place new accents in the characterization of the personages and the assessment of the «proposed circumstances» of the musical. Literary translation by N. Olev and S. Tsyriuk demonstrate the creative approach of interpreters to the original source. The addressing to the «Eternal Plot» becomes obvious, which acts as a universal myth about immortal lovers, since the translation interpretation is indicated by its own understanding of the content level of the famous tragedy, which sometimes differs significantly from the interpretation of the composer-librettist Gérard Presgurvic. In the Russian-language version, the poetics of theatricality is embodied, associated with the understanding of life as a carnival, masquerade. The translation interpretation demonstrates a kind of dialogue with the author’s text of the musical by the French composer, on the one hand, and the famous tragedy of the English playwright, on the other.
