Essay

In the dissertation the scientific task was performed, which was to reveal the historical process of genesis of the military clergy (chaplaincy service) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 1991-2017, identify features and trends in military-religious relations and formulate practical recommendations for possible use of experience. The domestic and foreign experience of meeting the religious needs of servicemen is generalized, the most common models of chaplaincy in the armies of foreign countries are revealed. An analysis of historical experience has shown that the practice of effective cooperation between the military and the Church in meeting the religious needs of servicemen is not new to our country. This direction of work was inherent in almost all armed formations that existed in modern Ukraine. The scientific novelty of the obtained results is that in solving the scientific problem in the dissertation for the first time: generalized experience and established features of pastoral care of personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the period of repulse and deterrence of armed aggression of the Russian Federation; the author's periodization of the genesis of the military clergy service (chaplaincy service) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 1991-2017 is proposed and substantiated; based on the experience of meeting the religious needs of servicemen during the anti-terrorist operation (Joint Forces operation) and the study of foreign models of chaplaincy, a national construct of military chaplaincy service was proposed.
