The dissertation is devoted to the research of the problems of responsibility for encroaching on the lawful, professional activity of journalists under the criminal law of Ukraine. Theoretical generalizations are made and ways of resolving controversial issues in the doctrine of criminal law and judicial practice are offered. The dissertation consists of three sections. In the second section of the dissertation the complex characteristic of the criminal offenses connected with encroachment on lawful, professional activity of journalists in Ukraine is carried out. In general, the most common in the criminal law literature is the position of recognizing the object of a criminal offense of public relations. It is emphasized that the significance and importance of the object of a criminal offense is revealed through the set of its elements and a certain feature that allows to correctly classify the offense and thus specifies the public danger of a criminal offense and the importance of punishment for its commission. The third section examines the issues of qualification and limits of liability for criminal offenses that encroach on the legal, professional activities of journalists in Ukraine. In general, the work emphasizes the need to exclude all special articles on journalists, in each of the sections there are arguments in support of this position, in particular, this is confirmed by judicial practice. In order to further improve the mechanism of criminal law protection of legal, professional activity of journalists in Ukraine, the expediency of making appropriate changes and additions to the Criminal Code of Ukraine is substantiated.
