Tuhai M. Ethnographic work of Rev.Mykhailo Zubrytskyi in the context of regional ethnographic studies of the Shevchenko Scientific Society.

The object of research is the figure of Rev. Mykhailo Zubrytskyi against the background of ethnological research of the Shevchenko Scientific Society of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The purpose of the research is a comprehensive analysis of the ethnographic activity of Rev. Mykhailo Zubrytskyi.Research methods are based on the use of the main scientific principles of knowledge: scientificity, objectivity, historicism, systematic and comprehensive study - and general scientific methods: dialectic, abstraction, generalization, systematicity, classification, typology, analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction; specifically historical - historical-genetic, historical-comparative, historical-systemic and concrete-historical - biographical, prosopographic and archival heuristics. The materials of the thesis research can be used in various fields of study, in particular for scientific research when studying the development of Ukrainian ethnography of the late XIX – early XX centuries or researching activity of outstanding Ukrainian ethnographers; it may be used in the educational sphere during compilation of teaching manuals and textbooks on special courses on the Carpathian studies and the history of Ukrainian ethnology; it may also be used in educational work while educating younger generations and bringing them up in the spirit of patriotism against the modern globalization background.The scientific novelty of the dissertation results from the objectives set and means of their implementation. The dissertation research is the first one to provide a comprehensive analysis of the ethnographic heritage of Reverend Mykhailo Zubrytskyi and his contribution to the development of ethnographic museum studies were analyzed; to introduce new and little-known scientific sources; to discover and revealing certain aspects of the ethnologist’s activity; to offer chronology of the scholar’s life periods, his scientific and socio-political work; the dissertation compelemented information on the involvement of the amateur scientist in the Shevchenko Scientific Society (NTSh); certain materials on the formation and development of the researcher's personality, his socio-political and clerical activities got their fresh interpretation.
