A study of the role of a collective in the daily life of pupils of Kyiv Institute of Noble Girls is important for understanding the specifics of conditions of being in a closed educational institution and the work of different categories of adults to provide pupils with necessary things, as well as dispelling a myth about a perfection of such an education system, understanding a context of an era, a life of privileged layers, their life in the provinces of the South-Western region of the Russian Empire. Therefore, a topic is relevant. The purpose of the study: to characterize the role of the collective in the organization of the daily life of the pupils of Kyiv Institute of Noble Girls in the 19th and first decades of the 20th century. Papers contain the historiography, source base, theoretical and methodological foundations of the research, the activities of the staff that ensure the living conditions of the pupils, in particular, the arrangement of the space, the supervision of the workers over the appearance and nutrition of the institute girls, medical care, as well as participation in education and everyday and festive practices of girls.
