Maiboroda Y. Assessment of geological risks during exploration and evaluation of mineral reserves using the example of carbonate rock deposits

The research topic relevance is related to two aspects of the geological and economic assessment of carbonate raw material reserves. Firstly, these are significant changes in the structure of limestone reserves, which is caused by limited access to deposits of Donbas and Crimea region, where reserves with high-quality raw materials and favorable mining and geological conditions are concentrated. Secondly, it is the need to take into account geological and mining risks when carrying out geological economic assessments, which have their own specificity for deposits of carbonate rocks. In addition, on a domestic and international scale, there was an increase in industry requirements for the quality of carbonate raw materials in connection with the involvement of new technological processes in metallurgy and construction industry. These factors determine the necessity and relevance of the systematization of the cut-off parameters for the calculation of carbonate raw materials, the definition and application of tools for taking into account geological risks and, as a result, the geological and economic reassessment of limestone deposits using improved methods. The paper evaluates the mineral and raw material base of carbonate rocks at different levels - in general, the entire mineral and raw material base of Ukraine, the regional level and the local level of individual deposits. Determination of optimal cutoff parameters for carbonate raw materials reserves assessment and development of tools for taking geological risk into account when developing and mining carbonate rocks deposits.
