The PhD thesis in a specialty 034 – Culturology. – Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts, Kyiv, 2023. The dissertation is devoted to revealing the specifics of national identity representation in modern visual culture. The paper investigates the problems of constructing national identity through visual images, analyses the main markers of nationality and reveals the specifics of expressing national and cultural content in the objects of the visual culture of Ukraine. The study provides an overview of publications that trace the influence of visual factors on national identity formation. It is stated that, following the trends of the information society, the main visual technologies of identity formation are advertising, films, television video projects, public and street art (to a lesser extent, fine arts and architecture). In the process of representing national identity through the visual images of contemporary culture, ideas, views, customs and traditions are selected, processed, comprehended and perceived, stimulating the active work of large social groups or the entire Ukrainian society based on generational heritage. In connection with the main political events that have influenced the formation of national identity in Ukraine since the declaration of independence on 24 August 1991, the periodisation of the process of its representation in visual culture is proposed: 1991–2004, 200–2014, 2015–2021, and 2022 – to the present day. It is found that the main factors of national identity expression in the visual culture of Ukraine in the periods 1991–2004 are such significant markers as: national-state attributes (identifying national symbols directly related to the formation of Ukraine's independence), cultural attributes (for example, images of famous cultural monuments, architectural structu
