Essay

The dissertation provides a new, scientifically based theoretical generalization and solves the current task, which consisted in establishing the relationship between emotional intelligence, academic motivation, and the quality of life of nursing students and their association with individual cofactors (age, work experience, presence of night shifts, bad habits, chronic diseases). For the first time in Ukraine, the relationship between emotional intelligence, academic motivation and the quality of life of nursing students was established. It has been proven, that a decrease in the level of emotional intelligence is associated with satisfactory academic performance, work experience up to 5 years, shift work and bad habits. At the same time, satisfactory academic performance was associated with a decrease in cognitive motive, achievement, self-development and self-esteem motives, as well as introjected and external regulation. The relationship between academic motivation of nursing students and academic performance, age of students, work experience and shift work was established. The author showed that the decrease in the physical health component of nursing students is influenced by age over 40, shift work, work experience of more than 15 years, the presence of bad habits and chronic diseases, while the decrease in the psychological health component is influenced by work experience up to 5 years and over 15 years, shift work and bad habits. At the same time, it was established that nursing students with low academic performance probably have lower quality of life indices. It was shown that the low quality of life of nursing students in terms of physical and psychological components of health is associated with a decrease in emotional intelligence indices, which are directly correlated with academic motivation.
