The place and role of financial security in the system of national and economic security of the country is outlined, the ambiguity of the interpretation of this concept is established, and it is proposed to single out the meso-level to which, in our opinion, the financial security of regions, industries and sectors of the economy should be attributed, which will allow for a deeper and more systematic analysis. A consistent and thorough analysis of the main indicators of the financial security of the state and their threshold values was carried out, the relationship between the concepts of risk, threats and dangers in the context of ensuring the financial security of the state was outlined, which made it possible to identify existing threats to national financial security.
A thorough analysis of scientific approaches to the interpretation of the essence of the "shadow economy" was carried out, its structure as a component of state security was outlined, classification groups were determined according to various features, the close relationship of the shadow economy sector with the financial security of the state was revealed, it was established that shadow economic activity has a destabilizing and destructive impact on the level of financial security of the country.

The main effective elements of the mechanism for ensuring financial security have been identified, such as: objective and comprehensive monitoring of the economy, and especially its financial sphere, with the aim of identifying and forecasting internal and external threats to the interests of financial security objects, calculation of threshold, marginally permissible values of financial and social - economic indicators, the excess of which can provoke financial instability and a financial crisis, state activity to identify and prevent internal and external threats to financial security.
A set of measures is proposed to increase the level of the main components of financial security and indicators of the state's economic security, which are substantiated by the construction of a correlation-regression model, as well as the main guidelines for strengthening national financial security are defined, which will allow to significantly increase the level of financial security of Ukraine, provided that support is provided on the legislative, executive, power levels.
