Futorianska K. Role of interim measures in human rights protection

The thesis is devoted to theoretical, practical and legal aspects of interim measures granted by international adjudicators in order to prevent irreparable harm to human rights in urgent situations. While the issue of interim measures is insufficiently researched in the Ukrainian doctrine, international legal studies usually focus on either the specifics of the interim measures granted by a particular international judicial body or on the general practice of international justice without taking into account the specifics of subject matter jurisdiction. The dissertation is a comprehensive research of interim measures as an instrument of international human rights protection that is constantly evolving and improving in practice. The paper examines the reasons for the terminological inconsistency and identifies the term that is most relevant in the Ukrainian context to refer to interim measures in international human rights law. As a result of the study of the objectives and conditions for the granting of interim measures, it was proposed the author's definition of interim measures as an instrument of human rights protection.
