Essay

The thesis is devoted to the study of the Carpathian folk-stage dance and the specifics of its interpretation in an artistic performance. The folk-stage dance of Prykarpattia is based on a folklore basis, which includes Prykarpattia customs, traditions, religion, and life. In its development, it has slowly gone from a folklore tradition to the main component of an artistic performance: ballet, drama, and performance. To study the Carpathian folk-stage dance, a cultural approach was used, which made it possible to thoroughly investigate the objects and phenomena, specifics, regional properties, and cultural influences of the choreographic culture of the Carpathian region within the historical development of the region. The systematic approach made it possible to study the culture of the Carpathian region as a system, which, in turn, consists of smaller subsystems and is part of the integral system of Ukrainian culture. The comparative method made it possible to analyze and compare the Carpathian culture with related cultures in the process of historical and social development. Using the historical approach, all the processes of formation of the choreographic culture are considered in chronological order. In addition, a number of general scientific and specifically scientific methods and approaches were used in the study at different stages, namely: analytical, terminological, sociological, bibliographic methods, the principle of scientific objectivity and critical analysis. The study examines the socio-cultural and historical factors that influenced the formation of the dance culture of the Carpathian region. The most important of them is the struggle of the Ukrainian people for independence at different historical stages of its development. The study of the source base of both classical literary sources and scientific works of contemporaries made it possible to comprehend the Carpathian choreographic culture in the context of the socio-cultural processes of this region and to identify its ethnographic features, which are an identifier of national originality in the national culture of Ukraine. Understanding the phenomenon of the dance culture of Prykarpattia made it possible to identify the elements of theatricalization and trace their development and improvement in Prykarpattia dance culture and in the composition of musical, dramatic, and ballet performances. The study highlights the principles of adaptation of folk stage dance in drama and music theaters. The basis for their implementation is: relevance, idea, social demands, worldview and concept of the director; preservation of the features of the dance canon of Carpathian folk dances; performance capabilities of ballet dancers. The thesis research details the basic principles of a choreographer's work when creating a national ballet performance: The libretto is written on the basis of a literary or folk work based on the historical traditions of the Carpathian region; the musical basis of the ballet is the material of folk music of the Carpathian region; the folk dance pattern is adapted to the requirements of classical dance and classical form; creation of mass choreographic scenes; use of regional means of expression; creation of images that are understandable to the audience; adaptation of folk costumes. The study clarified and defined the terminological base by specifying the concepts, which helped to realize the objectives of the thesis. A new concept of "ethno-dance" is also formulated - a dance show based on stylized folk music, with modernized folklore as its leading component. Ethno-dance is the latest dance show that meets all the requirements of a modern national cultural product. The term "ethno-dance" made it possible to formulate and reveal the essence of a modern dance show based on dance folklore.
