Popova M. Transformation of aesthetic practices of Chinese lyrics (on the example of the work of «Misty poets»)

The research is devoted to analyzing the transformation of aesthetic practices in Chinese lyric poetry using the example of the work of representatives of «Misty poetry» (gçß), which emerged in China in the late 1970s against the backdrop of socio-political changes after the Cultural Revolution. Poets of this movement, in particular Bei Dao (Wß), Gu Chen (þß), Shu Ting (’), Yang Lian (oü), Man Ke (’[), depart from the ideological dictates of socialist realism and turn to new forms of expression that combine Chinese classical traditions with Western modernist influences. The dissertation examines the main aesthetic principles of «Misty poetry», particularly its metaphoricity, individualism, allegoricality, and ambiguity, which reflect the authors' desire for an aesthetic understanding of reality beyond the boundaries of official ideology. It investigates how the poets of «Misty poetry» expanded the traditional aesthetic categories of Chinese lyrics, introducing new concepts, symbolism, and stylistic techniques that contributed to the evolution of Chinese literature in the second half of the 20th century.
