3. Object of investigation: Allusion in the press of Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The main task of investigation is to find out the principal structural and semantic features, pragmatic and stylistic functions of allusions in the language of journalists writing in the German language. Methods of investigation: induction, deduction, synchronic descriptional (definitional, functional, transformational, pragmatic). Theoretical and practical investigation results: a definition of allusion relevant for a linguistic analysis of this fenomenon in the press texts is suggested; the postion of allusions among phraseological, stylistical units and the text-in-text-units have been found out; the methods of distinction, classification and interpretation of allusions in press texts have been developed; main contexts for allusion to function and ways of realisation of the components belonging to the source of allusion have been distinguished; how the use of allusions influences its functional specifics and featu res of the hosting text. The novelty of results obtained: an integrated approach to the analysis of allusion was used based on the linguistic pragmatics, semiotics and the theory of intertextuality; new integrated terminology is suggested; the allusions were researched in the non-literary texts. Degree of implementation: the results of this investigation have been used in the university courses of stylistics, theory of translation, country studies. Sphere of application: linguistic disciplines that research German language, culture studies, theory of communication, journalizm; courses of lectures.
