Theoretically grounded and experimentally tested system of work at teaching Ukrainian short story's genre (the 20-th - 30-th years of the ХХ-th century) in senior forms of Secondary Comprehensive School is presented in dissertation research. Its essence is in the profound work at a text using the knowledge of theory of literature about the nature of genre, effective usage of linguistic and stylistic work, and modern reading of short stories of the 20-th - 30-th years of the ХХ-th century. The nature of this genre, psychological aspect of artistic perception by senior pupils is considered from the point of view of modern contemporary literature. The research offers new forms, methods and approaches in solving this problem.
