The objects of a research are the titles of processes, appearances and subjects in an orb of an electrical engineering. The purpose of a research is the establishment and linguistic interpretation of a word-formation structure of electrotechnical terms, definition of specifity of derivation processes in an investigated term-system. Methods of the qualitative and quantitative analysis, observations, comparison. This dissertation aims at concentrating on the word-formation structure of Ukrainian electrotechnical terminology, at establishing the specific nature of derivative process and at describing the most productive ways of word-building. The traditional terminology is continually extended with derivatives and borrowings from European lan-guages. Electro-technical terms have to be standardized not only regarcling the national and foreign components, but mostly in the context of close connections with an appropriate field.
