Essay

Alfalfa. To reveal the alfalfa varieties fit to seed growing without herbicide application using cover crops, to find the most suitable cover crops and the technology of their sowing. The research methods are generally accepted in breeding. It is proved that competitiveness is a varietal spacificity and on the level of its display existing four alfalfa varieties of Ukraine are first estimated. The alfalfa varieties with high competitiveness and cover cereal crops and their varieties with minimum level of depression are detected. The author's developments are introduced at the farms of Sumy region of the eastern Ukrainian Forest-Steppe. The introduction of the developments secured rasing economic efficiency of the alfalfa seed production by 17.8-27.8%. The field of application - Agricultural production.
