Essay

The dissertation focuses on the analysis of emotivity as a basic category of literary text. The study of emotivity deals with the peculiarities of the text-represented knowledge processing of which is correlated with a whole spectrum of human emotions. The category under research gets its textual realization through particular textual components. The latter are defined emotivity markers and can be of three types: signals of emotivity, emotive situations and emotive topics. In terms of textual statics, emotivity markers can be viewed as emotively charged textual components embodying in a literary text knowledge of the language and in the language, of the real world and textual reality. As far as textual dynamics is concerned, combinations of emotivity markers exteriorize the in-text knowledge which gets explicit through intralevel and interlevel textual connections between these markers. Being united, one-type emotivity markers form configurations. The relations between signals of emotivity, emotive si tuations and emotive topics within a configuration can be of analogic, contaminated or amalgamated character. While networking emotivity markers become hierarchically entangled and therefore create literary text emotive profile.
