Functional-semantic peculiaritics of phraseological units of the Slovak and Ukrainian languages with a component-name of metrologic and monetary unit. To define the semantic potential of phraseological units of the both languages with these components, the degree of their involvement into the process of phraseologization. The methods of logical description, component analysis, comparative, statistic. The results: the main directions of the study of phraseology are for the first time considered; the technique of the functional and semantic analysis of phraseological units has been introduced. The sphere of application: courses in phraseology, theory and practice of translation, lexicographical practice.
