Object - nouns with a modificate feminine meaning taken from the texts of the different styles and genres of modern Ukrainian language of XVIII - XX centuries. Aim - to study the process of development of derivative subsystem of nouns with a modificate meaning of female gender in modern Ukrainian language of XVIII - XX centuries. Scientific novelty - the first attempt of complex study of the process of formation and development of derivative subsystem of nouns with a modificate meaning of female gender in modern Ukrainian language. Theoretical importance - further development of the theory of word-making modification as a type of word-making meaning, introduction of new material into scientific usage. Practical importance - the results of the research may be used in the process of the preparation of the textbooks in the historical word-formation of the Ukrainian language, functional derivative system and lexicographical practice.
