There were clinically examinated 82 patients with liver cirrhosis and portal hypertension in stage "A" and "B" according to Child's-Turkott's classification of hepatic failure. We have studied the variations of central and portal hemodynamics, endoscopic changes of the upper gastrointestinal сhannel, interdependence of the sizes of a liver and portal hemodynamics with the development of hepatic encephalopathy before and after shunting operations. It has been established, that the vascular-shunting operations were a rather effective method in preventing of bleedings from esophageal and gastric varices and in 82% of cases provided staunch hemostatic effect.
