Essay

Subject of investigation: Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Candida pseudotropicalis, Debaryomyces occidentalis. Object of investigation: studying the bond between the Crabtree effect and the content of fatty acids in cells of the yeasts. Methods of investigation: microbiological, biochemical, gaschromatographic. Results: during growth of S.cerevisiae in the medium with 0,1% glucose the level of nonetherified fatty acids in cells of these yeasts is higher in comparison with D.occidentalis. The content of fatty acids is reduced in S.cerevisiae and C.pseudotropicalis and increased in D.occidentalis at the increase of glucose concentration in the medium. The fatty acid content in S.cerevisiae and C.pseudotropicalis is reduced when ethanol was added to the medium containing 2% of glucose or lactose. In the medium with 0,1% glucose and ethanol the amount of etherified fatty acids increased in both species of investigated yeasts.
