Essay

The dissertation is devoted to pharmacological and biophysical characterization of nonselective muscarinic cationic current in guinea-pig ileal SMCs. High [Ca2+]і evoked rapid Ca2+-dependent desensitization of muscarinic receptors; biophysical properties of cationic current were studied with different steady [Ca2+]і. SK&F 96365 blocks cationic current in potential-dependent manner. Usage of this blocker implies that the same type of channel works under depolarization and hyperpolarization. It was found that proteinkinase G blocking causes an increase of the amplitude of carbachol-evoked cationic current and contraction.
