Vasylyuk L. Physical-geographical conditionality of Volyn region toponymy

This dissertation is concerned with the reveal of geographical regularities of Volyn region toponymy on the base of analysis of social and natural conditions of local landscape-toponymic system forming. Geographical names formed in different historical periods hold notions about the time of their appearance and are valuable for reconstruction of landscapes of the past, for the defining of disappeared areas of plants and animals, the learning of particularities in settling and economic usage of territory by Man. The dissertation deals with the conformities of location of geographical names in Volyn and the origin of some types of toponymic formants. Gathering and learning of geographical names are inalienable part of our native science, as they are important places of material and spiritual culture of the nation.
