Essay

Object of study: pure and doped CsI crystals Aim of study: integrated investigations of the role of CO32- ions in radiation-stimulated processes in CsI, CsI(Na) and CsI(Tl) crystals. Methods of study and equipment: Optical spectroscopy, scintillation spectroscopy, spectrophotometers, monochromator, analyzer. Theoretical and practical results, novelty: CO32- ions create the luminescence centers in CsI crystals. A new channel of radiation defect formation has been revealed. It was found, that the presence of Na+ ions in CsI and CsI(Tl) crystals leads to the formation of sodium and carbonate ions complexes. Consequently, the effective channel of stable electron color center formation is suppressed. The obtained results are patented and used for the development of the growth process of the new CsI(CO3) scintillator and radiation-stable CsI(Tl) crystals. Field of application: radiation physics spectroscopy solid state, material science.
