Essay

The ДЕ1 type electric locomotive, designed and manufactured for operating freight trains, in its vehicle part has a new system of the body bolster and the pivot-less bogies with inclined rods transferring tractive and braking efforts from bogies to the locomotive body. The research purpose of the thesis is to choose rational parameter values of electric locomotive running gears that guarantee the traffic safety and required dynamic qualities. In order to study theoretically the spatial oscillations of an electric locomotive, a mathematical model for the structure suggested by UENDI (Ukrainian R&D Institute for Electric Locomotive Construction) has been elaborated. Differential equations of spatial oscillations of the system under consideration have been set up and the PC software have been developed and debugged. The software takes into account the running gear parameters depending on the bogie structure. Test runs with two ДЕ1 type electric locomotive and the ВЛ82м one taken as a reference standard ha ve been performed. Results analysis of dynamic (running) tests of a trial sample of electric locomotive and their comparing with the data of theoretical calculations testify that the principal dynamic indices of the vehicle part meet the requirements to advanced designs of electric locomotives. A satisfactory agreement of the results of theoretical and experimental studies confirms the validity of choice of the design scheme and the rational parameter values of the vehicle part of the freight trunk electric locomotive, and some recommendations regarding its operating conditions are given.
