Indications for catheterization of urinary tracts and for nephrostomy before and after ESWL treatment have been established for the patients with staghorn calculi . Treatment of patients with staghorn calculi with the aid of ESWL has been investigated. Effectiveness of ESWL treatment depending on the duration of calculus occurrence in the kidney, chemical composition, size and structure of the calculi has been demonstrated. New model of device for studying improving of staghorn calculi fragmentation during shock-wave lithotripsy has been worked out. Analysis of complications following ESWL performed on the patients w ith staghorn calculi, their prevention and treatment has been presented as well.
