The work considers psuchological aspects of posttraumatic stress sundrome in survivors of accidents, disasters and other traumatik events, analyses recent approches for determination of posttraumatic stress disorder for DSM-IV and ICD-10 diagnostic criteria. The main theories that have been put forward to explain posttraumatic reactions have been reviewed. The most complete diagnostic criteria of PTSD are directed in Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (APA, 1994) where PTSD was placed in the anxiety disorders section. At first PTSD was considered only as a psychological reaction on war, natural disasters, accidental disasters, violent assault, etc. As outlined in the DSM-IV criteria, PTSD can develops if the person has experienced, witnessed or confronted with an event or events that involved actual or threatened death or serious injury, or a threat to the physical integrity of self or others. According to all available data a medical-psychological ensuring treatment of persons with posttraumatic stress disorder are extremely social important. The lack of available psychological diagnostic methods of such states in science of our country reduces effectiveness of psychological rehabilitation of victims, limits development of methods specialized psychocorrection for this considerable patients contingent, that makes a problem of development diagnostic methods actual and urgent. Specific features of personal reactions have been studied in 190 individuals having posttraumatic stress disorder following traumatic events (experienced, witnessed the accidental disasters or severe disease with surgical interventions). In research the comparison of possttraumatic symptomatology of tested people with different types of trauma was carried out. The rates ranking of frequency manifestation of some symptoms has showed the pictures proximity of basic symptoms in groups, which have been investigated. According to the data present in the report picked out symptoms could be considered as most essential in psychological PTSD diagnostics. Being bottomed on got data with regard to possibility of forming posttraumatic stress in persons reveale an inclination to the expressed emotional reacting on illness situation and cure, we offer a list of basic symptoms and behaviour suggestive of PTSD in medical patients, which may help medical psychologist and physician to diagnose posttraumatic stress in such patients. A comparison of basic psychodiagnostical characteristics (test-retest reliability, concurrent and others) has been made on the example of different questionnaires and different groups of tested people. The distinctions in motivation, emotional reactions in different inspected groups were revealed and analysed. Approbated questionnaires for diagnostics posttraumatic stress is reasonable for using as with diagnostic (research) as psychocorrection aims. Practical advises and recommendations in diagnostics and prevention of posttraumatic stress disorder are provided. The results of this research c ould be interesting for clinical psychology, psychological diagnostic, and psychiatry.
