Nesteruk S. Aesthetic functions of symbols in literary work of Pavlo Zahrebelny.

The dissertation is devoted to the investigation of the aesthetic functions of symbols in the creative work of Pavlo Zahrebelny. The object of the research is his small - and large scale prose. The purpose of the work consists in system and function analysis of the imagery and symbolic vocabulary of this prose-writer, in studying of evolutionary formation of the system of aesthetic meanings, the revelation of the interaction of traditional and author's symbolic as well as its meanings. Historiko-genetic, contextual, comparative methods of interpretation of symbols are used in the dissertation. The practical value of the work consists in the possibility of using of its main results during academic and special historico-literary courses, in the investigation of similar problems in the Ukrainian and other literatures as well as in scientific work of students. The scientific novelty of the dissertation consists in the special investigation of the artistic symbols in the prose of Pavlo Zahrebelny as well as in analysis of his literary works created in the late 80's and the early 90's of the twenty century and not enough studied. The theoretical importance of the work is that it determines the interaction between images-symbols and context.
